Projects with
Repsol in the Iberian Peninsula

Montrel has been collaborating with the Spanish energy and petrochemical multinational for more than 30 years, where we have completed many projects both in Spain and abroad (Portugal, Peru and Mexico). Our main projects in Spain have been at the Repsol Refinery in La Coruña and at Repsol Puertollano. Also, at the Sines refinery (Portugal) ) we carried out the Pzsago project for truck loading at the plant's new gasoil warehouse.

Fuel Truck Loading Facility
for Repsol at
La Coruña Refinery

The refinery is located between the municipalities of La Coruña and Arteixo, occupying a total of 150 hectares, and connected by a 6.5 km pipeline to the so-called Maritime Terminal, where the ships loaded with crude oil dock and discharged the product that will be refined.

From Montrel, we installed and implemented an automatic loading facility for fuel trucks (heavy fuel), with a truly modern loading process control system and almost no need for staff involvement in its operation.

EPC
Puertollano Refinery

Montrel did the engineering and then executed the EPC of this ambitious project for biofuel unloading from trucks and trains.

The design is developed as the necessary complement to the plant's Administrative Management System. It is a system that responds to all the current needs of truck loading, such as the possibility of blending different products and additives.

A solution for the complete automation of the loading process has been implemented, all within the Simatic PCS7 environment.

Given the characteristics of the products handled as well as the environment where it is carried out, the installation is subject to ATEX regulations.

A study was also conducted of the IB+FEL Project Detailed Engineering for Biofuel Unloading, development engineering, detailed engineering and complete EPC execution of the Biofuel Unloading Project (Bioethanol, ETBE and Biodiesel).

Its main characteristics are:

  • Driver identification using HID proximity cards
  • Control over the maximum loading quantities in each compartment of each truck, according to ADR requirements (European Regulation on the Transport of Dangerous Goods).
  • Control via TCP/IP communication of the operation of the loading microcomputers.
  • Determination of the quantities of additive to be injected into the various tanks of the trucks.
  • Biofuel unloading from trains.
  • Generation of reports on the loading facility’s operation.
  • Treatment of physical additives.
  • Automatic stop and start of the main product and additive pumps.
  • Control of the load’s safety interlocks.
  • Incorporation of signals from the different Refinery Motor Control Centres, using Profibus in fibre optics.
  • Time statistics of vehicle stops.
  • LPG (propane and butane) loading with mass meters or on scales.
  • Loading control of products in bulk and in containers.
  • Incorporation of signals from the different Refinery Motor Control Centres, using Profibus in fibre optics.
  • Loading control of products supplied in volume and mass.
  • Analogue signal de trend records.

Project in
Repsol Sines

The work consisted of the manufacture, supply, installation and implementation of diesel loading equipment with FAME in-line blending with a dosage of up to 4 additives per line. The unit consists of a Skid with two bottom loading arms, two additive dosing units and two independent measurement lines for gasoil and FAME. It also included supplying the associated Control System so that the process is carried out automatically
